Descend into the cave on Grotto Mountain. This 4km long limestone wonder was created by huge quantities of water from extinct glaciers. Our highly trained, internationally experienced guides lead you through twisting passageways - etched over hundreds of thousands of years - exploring diverse large caverns and chambers, mineral formations, and ancient animal bones and fossils. Each tour begins with a 1/2 hour hike on a mountain trail to a canyon leading to the cave entrance. After changing into caving equipment and reviewing safety practices, we enter the cave to enjoy a natural history interpretation of this fascinating underground world. Our friendly, experienced, interpretive guides will lead you through twisting passageways - etched and sculptured by glacial waters - to large underground chambers and a pool grotto. Along the way you'll see mineral formations, animal bones and other unique karst features. Tours go year round. Cave temperature is always 5 C (41 F).
